Food that I REALLY miss

It must be winter. All I can think about is food food food. I am on a SEE FOOD diet.

Okay.

Those staying in Malaysia, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, take for granted the kind of fruits that you have there.

Coz I really miss them. UUWWWWAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

*Sob sob*

We were at Coles supermarket today to get our weekly groceries, and I saw this:

One measly, sickly, tiny looking mangosteen, the usual price is about AUD$2.00 each. You read me right.

EACH. And this ($1.68) is supposedly on special. Right....... back home I can eat rambutan and mangosteen till I lau sai (diarrheoa).

Durians, rambutans, mangosteens, cikus............ I MISS!! UUWWWAaaaahhhhhhh!!!! Somebody hand me a hanky! Boo hooo hoooooo!

Durians here, no smell, no buy. Rambutans, all getting black and rotten, one dozen AUD$10.00 (ptooi!) who wants to buy. Mangosteen looking like this no appetite to buy and ciku got money also cannot buy. Coz tadak, none to buy.

And guess what I doubly miss?

THIS!!

Where the foog in Ipoh can you find this anymore? I used to buy this from a vendor on a motorcycle that went pass my house every week. Can guess what it is arr??? :P

UUUUWWWWWaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

I just discovered something about mangosteen: be sure choose one with most petals below the fruit (see http://www.demoments.net/blog/?p=486 for more tips).

Can't help on the fruit part, but for the putu mayam, hey, u can learn to make the next time u come back to Malaysia :)

aiyoooo... poor sweetpea.

I'll ease your pain by helping myself to more local fruits so that I can 对得起你! It's durian season now in Malaysia. I'm going to Balik Pulau to eat durians. I shall post them on my blog for you to drool, next week. :)

Sure expensive in Perth lor. In Malaysia so cheap cheap. But good durans can be expensive too, I paid RM93.00 for 3. Got slaughter maybe. :)

...our Sweetpea missed Putu Mayam? Of all things??? ha ha ha ha... but you can take consolation that peaches imported here to Malaysia isnt half that fragrant.

on that note, that shrinking little mango reminds me of shrinking shrivel up rambutans at a Malaysian fair long long time ago in Manchester (okay, that was in 1990 when i was a student in England) and i was actually drooling...

Sweetpea said...

ATP - thing is, am not too into plums and peaches wor :(

pathetic looking with liquid oozing out from the rambutans hor? :)
