My little fire

Miche gave me this tag, and it's good to share the meaning of our little ones' names.

Aidan is the name of an Irish monk and saint of the 7th century, which also means Little Fire, ardent. I like the fact that it means intensely devoted and passionate. I hope he is like his name, have a focus in life and do things with a passion.

How I came across this name? You might laugh at me. Wilkin and myself had no idea what name to choose, I got a few, in fact Darrius, Benjamin, Jonathan were among the few. I like three-syllables. He suggested Joshua, which he probably didn't realize it's one of the name of choice for christians, and we are not.

And I was watching Sex And The City. The rest you guess :)

As for his chinese name, Jun Yan, ..... my chinese not very good, so bear with my explanation. Jun means 'jun bou', like in improve, or moving forward. Yan means 'bou yan', like he'll repay kindness or something like that. How we got that one, we gave Aidan's date and time of birth to a sifu (master) in KL and he gave us a few options. Wilkin chose this one.

I can tell u one funny thing, my DIL seriously, and he really liked that one, suggested 'Sau Soon' like the TVB Hor Sau Soon... the veteran DJ. Aparah!!! I die die told Wilkin NO WAY! I will 'terbalik muka' one if he agreed to it. *Wipe sweat*.... lucky thing he didn't.

Interesting how you pick the name. Ironic that you reject the name Joshua as Christian name and pick Aidan who is a monk and saint. It just roused my curiousity. Not picking at you.

haha, i know. well, not reject per se, another reason is becoz here in melb. there are too many joshuas, plus before SATC, 'aidan' was never known to me. seriously! and i liked the name when i first heard it :)

SA - aidan is becoming very popular too. you made me realize i shouldn't have brought in the religion factor. that shouldn't be the point. it's just that joshua sounds very..eerrm... holy... should this be the word, i don't even know :) but that's just me thinking.
