I am homesick

I haven't been celebrating Chinese New Year with my family now for eight, what, nine years? I called home earlier and the noise at the background... gosh! Everyone is talking at the same time, everyone is at MY house, someone sleeping in MY room, on MY bed. I wanna cryyy!!

Here, ***silence***

And in better days when I was a little girl, there will be the auspicious red fireworks and lion dance. I hear they are now pretty difficult to book and very costly too. But whatever, it is just so different here. Perhaps I do not have my own family, or perhaps Wilkin's family is nothing like mine. Yes, definitely the latter. I come from one where you can hear my mother's voice from the end of the street, where as his mother, bless her soul, hardly raised her voice.

I am homesick.

I want the old days where we actually get two days off, and we can sit around and play 'Chor Dai Dee' and watch lame local entertainment telly shows of CNY. They may be lame, I miss them all the same. It is better than NOTHING.

I want my mother's cooking. I want to eat the porkballs, the 'Wang Choi Jau Sau' dish and her famous 'Sang Choy Bau'. I want to wake up to the old tradition where I will have to serve her a cup of tea first thing today, say a good old verse, and get my angpau.

*Sob, sob, sob*

I am going to eat some kuih kapit now.
