Ice Cream Cake - Trial

My sifu's birthday next week. And what better a present than to make her what she taught me? So I thought I'd practice it yesterday. So excited and hurried I was, because ice-cream mar, have to do it very quickly, I forgot to take the 'process' of making it. When I finished the final layer, my mind immediately zoomed into the word PHOTO.




Many hours later, this was the result.



Not bad, considering first attempt to improvise :P but I really shouldn't use the Oreo wafers, perhaps just chop up some Oreo cookies and mix it in. Here's the guideline to it.

Base :
I used chocolate sponge cake, for chocolate theme. Otherwise, various flavours sponge rolls for co-ordinated ice-cream of your choice, sponge fingers with fruit juice, chopped up Marie biscuits, etc.

Below mix-ins are copied from Ice Cream Cake site.

For chocolate theme mix-ins, try:
Chocolate fudge/Caramel fudge
Cookie dough
Oreos
Mint slice biscuits
Freddo frogs
Flake/Twirl
Rocky road
Jaffas
Snickers
Mars Bar
Tim tam
Boost bar
Caramello Koala

Strawberry theme mix-ins:
Marshmallows
Freckles
Rocky road
Freddo frogs
Cherry ripe
Bounty

Vanilla theme mix-ins: (Bear in mind vanilla mixes well with almost anything, and compliment almost any kind of desserts, so this is a safe try)
White chocolate chips
Macadamias
Lightly toasted pistachios
Mango
Crunhie
Malteasers
M & Ms
Milo or Milo bar
Cookie dough
Milky Way

Peppermint theme mix-ins:
Mint slice biscuits
Flake
Dark chocolate chips

Best left overnight or for at least half a day, before removing the mould and decorating it. Happy mixing up and good luck trying!
