Being rich doesn't buy you manners or class
15 minutes to closing time, 2 chinese guys walked in to the store. One in suit and pants, holding 2 scripts, full with the doc's handwriting. Well, it was still operating hours, of course we still serve, but swearing a little inside :P coz there were another 3 more customers with scripts. That meant we can't walk out the door right on the dot.
Anyway, this other chinese guy, mid 30's I guess, wearing spunky specs was wandering around as if looking for something. I went up to him and asked if I could help. He started to say something, then waved me off. Then he walked up to his friend and both started conversing in Cantonese. The spunky specs guy was looking for toothpaste, but didn't need my help. I guessed that he couldn't speak English lor. And both weren't too friendly to start with. Well, of course they don't have to be. They are, after all, customers. But it's just something that peeves me off.
More so when later my colleague told me they had a chaffeur in a grand car. So what? SO RICH but no basic manners even. I saw the scripts, and it was for the 'suit' guy. Surname 'Tan'. From the way they converse, Tan sounds either Malaysian or S'porean, and he spoke pretty good English. The spunky specs definitely from HK. Who was the one with chaffeur I donno lar.
I served the others. Being here, I speak the way they speak. Back in Malaysia, Manglish lar of cos! Buthen, both looked at me satu maciam, and I think they thought I couldn't understand Cantonese. Huh, lucky they didn't talk bad about me, otherwise, you think I can sue for defamation or something like that, hehe, then get a piece of their inheritance or hard work, whichever... huuuaaahh....
Okay, ZAPPPP!! Back to earth. Daydream stopped. Time for lunch. Tummy calling.
